Easter Island – Rapa Nui in the native language of the same name – is located in the Pacific Ocean, more than 3000 kilometers off the coast of northern Chile. It has a triangular shape, an area of 163 km2 and is part of the Polynesian islands. The island is one of the most isolated places on the planet, it is treeless, dotted with volcanoes and fringed with sandy beaches.
The Rapa Nui culture is very special and so far have managed to preserve their ancestral traditions. The language, dances and food are customs taught to children from an early age at school and at home. The monolithic statues called Moai are sublimely beautiful works of art and a mistery unsolved, due to no one knows about their construction and how they were transported to their final destination. The setting of these tall figures carved out of volcanic rock have turned much of Rapa Nui into a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a tourism magnet.
This trip will show you the best of Easter Island. You will learn about their culture and visit wonderful places such as the Rano Raraku and Rano Kau volcanoes; and go up to the top of the Ahu Akivi Terevaka hill, where you can have a scenic view of the island. Without doubt, the sunsets are the most idyllic panoramas, enjoy a sunset in the Anakena beach and be enchanted with the magic of Rapa Nui.
